Helping a Local Dealership

Here at SERVPRO, we are used to going into customer’s homes day in and day out to help get people’s lives back to normal. We see people in all ranges of emotion, from despair when we first arrive after a disaster to excitement and joy when we are moving them back in after we have mitigated and repaired the damage. It is tough to see folks at a low point, but one of the rewards for doing what we do is seeing them at the end and knowing we had a part in restoring their lives as quickly as we possibly could. While in a commercial setting, there is usually not as much emotion from the people involved because there is less personal attachment to the structure and contents, but the need to perform mitigation and repair services in a timely manner are certainly on the front of the affected party’s mind. They are concerned about hazards of having customers in their store or shop and trying to navigate the normal stresses of their day, let alone when there is drying equipment running and they are missing parts of their building. The importance of getting these jobs done quickly and correctly is paramount and something that we, here at SERVPRO of Greene County, are very familiar with.

Earlier this month, we had a job come in on a Sunday afternoon at a car dealership here in town. A toilet supply line in an upstairs bathroom had broken, affecting much of the upper floor and the majority of the lower floor’s walls, floor, and ceiling as well. The customer was understandably overwhelmed when they called because around 60% of their two-story building was flooded, ceiling tiles were falling, contents in storage had been completely soaked, and things were not looking good for them. Once the call came in, we had eight of our crew members on site within an hour getting to work extracting, performing the necessary demolition to aid in the drying process, and cleanup of the entire affected area. Eight hours later, the standing water was gone, drywall and flooring were cut neatly where necessary, and equipment was set getting them on their way back to normal. Our crew helped move content around in their showroom so that they could close off the affected side while still being able to open the doors for paying customers the next morning. Their kind words were appreciated, as they always are from satisfied customers, but here at SERVPRO, it was just another day in the life. Whether we are going into someone’s home or business, we always strive to act with speed, consistency, and compassion for our customers, whether it is one room or twenty.
